Guess what? This place is still somewhat alive. Well I have to admit that it has been quite a while since I posted anything around here. In fact, i started this post here back in 09 and never got around to finish it. I guess I am just lazy o_O.
Anyhow! MMORPGs (thats short for massive multiplayer online roleplaying game for those of you who don’t know, even though no one seems to do any RP anyhow), have been around for longer than most of you might think. There was a time before WoW, even before Everquest. The first MMO that showed up on my radar was Meridian 59 altough I never played it. I also knew about Ultima Online but I didn’t have the resources back them to get the game imported from the US.
Our Posses adventure continues. After they dealt with the threats in Chapter I it is Time for them to see what happened to the Miners in the Ghost mine. Are they prepared for what awaits them there?
Please only read on if you plan to run this as a GM.
This is the first in a Series of Adventures. I am writing these for my gaming group and will upload them as I go along. The first Adventure leads the Posse to South Fork, Rio Grande County in Colorado, where they encounter the McGee Gang and learn about mysterious missing Miners.
Please only Read on if you Plan to run the Game as a GM.
I do like to read Webcomics, after all they are Free and Fun. My favorite Webcomic by far is Obsidian’s Commissioned Comic a Comic about a Geek like you and me, well actually the Main Charakter “O” is a bith worse than most of us, but still terribly fun. There are also some Storylines that make an appearance from time to time, such as the Comics about Ninjas or a angoing Fantasy Storyline (altough thats not Fully in the Archives since O didn’t upload all his old Comics after a Software Update to his site.
Obsidian does update his Comic daily and I don’t think he has missed a single day since I read his comic. Go check it out right now!
I have been a Gamer since the 80ies. Back then my Dad got one of these and I still remember playing a game called Spannerman that used to run on Data Casettes. In 89 I got one of these for Christmas. After that I was hooked. I spent hours and hours gaming, finishing games Like Zelda or Mystic Quest Legend (Seiken Densetsu 1′s Title in the German speaking market) within a week or less. In early 93 I got a SNES and played the heck out of that as well. My next Gaming machine was my Dad’s Macintosh Perorma (II I think but I am not sure anymore), where I played hours and hours of Sim City 2000, Myst (what a boring game to modern standards, but my dads buddies that owned computers where speechless when they heard that I finished it within less than a week) and the ocassional Marathon Demo.
In 1997 I got a PC but thats a different story…
Whats more Interesting for retro gaming, is that I got me PSP about 2 years ago. While I am still a bit disapointed by the native games that come on that console, I love it since I managed to Downgrade the baby. I had to get a friends GTA:LCS Copy to use an exploit in Firmware 3.03 to get it back to Firmware 1.5 and have used Dark Alex’s Firmwares ever since.
I have been to the theater last Saturday night, but I haven’t gotten around to writ a review until now. But still here comes my review of Iron Man.
Synopsis
Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is the CEO of Stark Industries which produces advance weapon systems for the U.S. military. Tony’s father started the company after WWII, and after his death Tony inherited the company, worth billions. Tony lives the life as a hard drinking, rich playboy ladies man, but he is also a genius who has invented many high-tech items for the company. Tony flies to Afghanistan to demonstrate a new weapons test to the United States Air Force. On his way back to his plane, his convoy is attacked by terrorists, and Tony is wounded by a Stark Industries missile. Tony is captured and held hostage in a cave with Yinsen (Shaun Toub), a doctor who saves his life. The terrorists force Tony and Yinsen to reproduce the new destructive Jericho missile Tony was demonstrating from parts of other weapons. Instead, Tony decides to build a suit of armor with Yinsen’s help. The suit gives Tony the strength and protection to be able to escape the terrorists. Back in America, Tony builds a better suit of armor which gives him superhuman strength with the ability to fly. With the help of his personal assistant Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and Air Force Lieut. Colonel Jim Rhodes (Terrence Howard), Tony vows to protect the world as Iron Man.
I live in Switzerland, thats the tiny country between Germany, France, Italy and Austria. We have about 7 Million Inhabitants and Four (!!!) different languages (German, French, Italian and Ratorumansch). This leads to a kind of special Situation. Most of our TV and Magazines and the likes come to us from Germany since I am from the German Speaking area of Switzerland. And since Germany has one of the strangest relationship with video games this can lead to some confusion.
Germany has one of the toughest youth protection laws in the world. But since they had some mentally ill people shoot their schoolmates, there are forces that call for even stronger laws. Some even go so far as to say that killing a person in a video game should be punished with prison since it is training to kill a person in real live. Whenever a Kid acts violent in Germany the press immediately tells us what violent “Killerspiele” (“Killer Games”) that kid was supposed to be playing. The Kid that went amok in Erfuhrt was supposedly training Head shots in “Counter Strike” for instance. It doesn’t make any difference to the Media that there was no Counter Strike on his computer at all, CS == The evilest game there is and the sole reason why all German kids go crazy.
Well I wrote a few of these on my WoW Guilds Website (in german though). I will write posts here of all kind of things I like, dislike or whatnot. I hope you enjoy your stay.
